Meet the Leaders

Pastor Gord Schutz (Lead Pastor)

Pastor Gord Schutz (Lead Pastor)

It is a true privilege for me to serve alongside the Mountainview family. I have been in pastoral ministry for over 10 years. 2014 was a monumental year of turning 40, graduating with a Master of Divinity and getting ordained in the C&MA (I’m still waiting for my trip to Europe as a “congratulations” gift).

Since moving here in December 2016, my wife Rae-Anna and our four little ones are excited to call Langley home. You can find us exploring the incomparable scenic beauty that is the lower mainland, looking for animals, enjoying a hot beverage, and playing Uno.

Pastor Yong Wang (Associate Pastor of Mandarin Ministry)

Pastor Yong Wang (Associate Pastor of Mandarin Ministry)

It’s my honor to have officially joined Mountainview Alliance Church as the Mandarin Pastor in September 2020. I served previously at Burnaby Alliance Church for over 4 years when I was sent in 2018 to start a Mandarin ministry here in Langley.

I grew up in Dalian (Northeast of China), went to university in Wuhan (Central China), and worked in Guangzhou (Southern China). In late 2001, I entered Canada to pursue a Master Degree in International Studies at UNBC (Prince George), during which time I received Jesus as my savior and responded to His calling to serve Him full time. After some waiting, I attended ACTS seminary of TWU in 2007 and graduated in 2010 with a Master of Divinity degree.

My wife, Tracy, and I have been married for 7 years, and currently live in Port Moody. During my spare time, I enjoy hiking, watching sports, and traveling with family.

Calvin Lee (Director of Next Generations Ministry)

Calvin Lee (Director of Next Generations Ministry)

In 2006, Calvin began his work in ministry under Christ Worship Centre in Vancouver, Canada.  Majored in Worship from Trinity Western University, he served as a worship director and eventually, next-generation pastor alongside with his wife, Joyce.  In 2022, Calvin departed Christ Worship Centre as staff to further his studies at Tyndale Seminary (Masters of Theology in Christian Foundation).  He is excited to join the MVA Church this season to work with the next generation.

Calvin and Joyce carry a passion for the next generation.  Their heart is to see a maturing of the next generation especially in their love for God and for others.  With the assistance of the team they had established, they pastored, led, counselled, trained and taught the next generation.   They have a unique way of connecting with the next generation when others are not able to.  Joyce is also a certified behavioural consultant to youths and children with special needs.  Her vast experience has given her an edge to connect with families who are in desperate need of hope.

Patricia joined the staff team in January 2023 and since then has performed many job responsibilities. She has now shifted her role to that of facility manager handling the church rental facilities and kitchen liaison with the various ministry partners. She also currently serves in the Welcome Team.

Patricia loves connecting and meeting people. She enjoys bowling and travelling.

She is excited about growing in relationship with the Lord and with one another in the community of Mountainview.

Catherine Karkada (Director of Administration)

Catherine Karkada (Director of Administration)

I’m excited to be a part of the Mountainview team! My husband, myself, and our daughter have been attending Mountainview since May 2023. We’ve been living in the Lower Mainland since 2019 and were previously educators at Regent Christian Academy in Surrey. We love the missional and family spirit of Mountainview Alliance Church and are excited to get to know more people.

I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience. During my university studies, I served in the campus ministry University of Christian Ministries, the largest Christian campus ministry at UBC. I served as a Bible study leader, worship leader, volunteer, and Executive Treasurer in 2018-19. I volunteered at my local church during my time at UBC and love serving within the church community.

I enjoy adventuring locally and within BC, spending time with my family, eating and cooking great food, playing music, and spending time outside doing pretty much any sport: biking, hiking, swimming, wakeboarding, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, and jumping on the trampoline with my daughter!
